[GLOBAL][Dedicated Servers] - IPv6 configuration change on selected Linux distributions

Scheduled for Dec 1, 10:00 - 11:00 UTC

Scheduled

As part of our continuous improvement plan, we will change the IPv6 configuration applied to new installations of older Linux OSes on our Bare Metal offer.

Start time : 01/12/2026 10:00 UTC
End time : 01/12/2026 11:00 UTC
Service impact : Installed servers keep their current configuration until they are reinstalled.
From the start of the maintenance, new installations of the OSes listed below will receive an updated IPv6 configuration.
Servers on the Advance (from ADV-3 2024), Scale and High Grade ranges are not affected.

List of affected OSes:

- AlmaLinux 8 (and its Plesk 18 variant)
- AlmaLinux 9
- Rocky Linux 8
- Rocky Linux 9
- Ubuntu 20.04
- Ubuntu 22.04

Service improvement : The affected OSes were previously configured with a /56 IPv6 prefix and a large set of extra routes (around 140) to reach a gateway outside the server's own prefix.
New installations will now use the prefix length displayed in the API (for example /128 or /64), with a default route via the gateway, without the extra routes.
This brings these older distributions in line with the IPv6 setup our newer Linux OSes already use, resulting in a simpler and more consistent network configuration.
Please note that after a reinstallation, customers only need to adapt any configuration that relied on the /56 prefix or the additional routes, such as post-installation scripts or firewall rules, if applicable.

Thank you for your understanding.
